Hidden Within My current project is based on wet collodion images made directly onto discarded objects. The discarded objects on which images are created include old cigarette tins and rusted food cans; the images are selected from my eclectic collection of found items, and include natural and man-made objects such as leaves, insects and industrial debris. There will be 13 tins, each containing a different image, but all with a connecting theme: every image is of an object ‘rescued’ by me. These pieces will be displayed without photography immediately visible. Viewers would handle the objects, opening them to reveal images concealed within. The artworks connect with the “Hidden” theme in two ways: the physical structures do not obviously feature images; they must be revealed as the viewer engages with the artwork. Secondly, the subject matter is objects I have scavenged - once “hidden” from view, but now found and become art. This series will be exhibited for the first time anywhere at the Revela-T analogue photography festival in Barcelona in May, 2017.
